I don't remember what I thought at first... I believe I thought it was pretty cool.

I only use Ultimate because I am on an Active Directory domain...

2GB at a minimum to run Vista decently... My main workstation and laptop both have 4GB.

Are you running an AMD or Intel processor? I've noticed better performance from AMD chips than Intel chips on Vista.

Give it a go, install SP1 and explore... It took a bit of getting used to because some stuff is "hidden".

Also, be sure to DISABLE User Access Control as it caused me some issues running programs at first, not to mention it is just annoying.

If you happen to have a Tablet PC then Vista's tablet functionality is MUCH better than XP Tablet Edition. I will never own a normal laptop ever again after owning a tablet ;)

Ok. I am literally only trying this, as two people in the same forum have given me good feedback lol ;)

I'm on AMD, the user account control is one of the reasons I couldn't be bothered hanging around with vista.

Tablet...never even had a go on one lol:confused:. I saw a video of Bill Gates showing one off with vista on youtube, looked pretty impressive.

But on a good note, ill get Vista back on my laptop and give another go.

Cheers Regards CJ :o

I dropped Vista the first day I tried it because it wouldn't play nice with the RAID setup in my box.  It would perform just fine the first time it booted, then after that it essentially stopped responding.  Switching to a dedi controller fixed that issue buts caused some others so .. it just wasn't meant to be at that time.

The Vista installer was much nicer though.

cartwright118:
Hmm...Someone else thats had a few problems then lol. Are you going to try it again now they have updated it alot?

Regards CJ

P.S isn't it strange how the topic of the thread changes *laughs*::cool:

I'm running the Home Premium edition.  Didn't see the need for anything more powerful than that.

On an AMD Turion TL-58 laptop, 2 gigs of RAM.  I know someone on here has seen the link to the exact configs I'm running, but if anyone else wants it, let me know.  I'll drop the NewEgg link here, as this is exactly the one that I ordered.  :)

No to SP1 as of yet, I'm too chicken to try this without first ghosting my system.
