At the moment it seems like you only accept payments using credit cards.

I would much prefer to pay my hosting directly using a standing order to a bank account or via direct debit.

I'm always concerned that I will miss my payments because my credit card has expired and it was also make my accounts easier to manage.

Earthling:
Hi,

Whilst I don't work for SolarVPS, I can comment that there are all sorts of problems associated with accepting bank payments on-line.

Solar use a credit card processor and PayPal, both of which have an API which automatically updates your account here within a few seconds to show that you have made a payment. This is much slower when you use bank processing - Often banks do not have an API available and it can take up to 5 working days for the details of a payment to show up, which then has to be manually allocated to your account.

Receiving payments via a credit card processor and PayPal also gives Solar some degree of security when identifying a customer, and avoids issues with those few people out there who are up to no good (money laundering, for example).

I don't know about where you are, but here my new credit card arrives around 3 weeks before the old one expires, giving me plenty of time to change the details with the various people I use it with.

And, personally, I also sell on-line and I would NEVER contemplate giving my bank details to anyone wanting to pay me - I just wouldn't want to send that information anywhere with all the identity theft etc going on these days! At least, with a credit card, I have some degree of protection.

And welcome to Solar! You'll like it here :D

Retriever II:
It would be nice if the Parallels system had support for automated payment via Paypal, since that's the payment method I use and there's always that fear that some day I'll miss the payment.  Paypal also allows hooking up a bank account for those that wish to, and allows backup funding sources which I assume would mitigate the problem of your credit or debit card expiring behind your back.

Douglas:
As both Retriever and Lucy (Earthling) have said, we accept PayPal and Credit Cards.  As far as I know, there are no reliable methods to verify any other payment methods at this time.

While we do take checks, we actively discourage those, so if someone wishes to make a check/cheque payment, it will only be accepted for annual prepayment packages.

Earthling:
All our supermarkets and other stores over here have stopped taking cheques, or are phasing them out. There is just too much opportunity for fraud. Heck I can't even go to the ATM here without peering up underneath it to see if its got a hidden card reader and mini camera trying to record my PIN. If I phone my bank it takes ages to get security cleared by the time I tell them bits of my address, password, date of birth, when I last pruned my toenails and what was in the sandwich the third cashier from the left was eating 3 months last Thursday. I've usually forgotten why I phoned them by the time I get through that lot!

Aaaah, there's your problem Doug. There's whole bunch of Check, Hungarian and Polish fraudsters out there!

All the best,
