Coppermine - temporary folder access

I installed Coppermine Photo Gallery through Fantastico. I'm having a problem with uploading images which according to the Coppermine support team it's a access problem to the temporary folder. It seems the Script can't access the temporary folder. I have open_basedir enabled through WHM and running phpinfo shows an available open_basedir directory the script can access.

I checked the permissions to the /tmp folder and it was set to 755. I also tried setting it to 777, temporarily, to see if made a difference but it didn't.

Any ideas?
