HOWTO - create private nameservers (cPanel).
(1/1)
Voicu Rogojan:
TUTORIAL for creating private namesevers - cPanel
1. cPanel setup page:
When you receive a new cPanel VPS, at the setup wizzard, you can enter as nameservers
ns1.cp.solarvps.com
ns2.cp.solarvps.com
Theese nameservers will be kept as placeholders until the following steps. After you
finish the wizzard, you go to step 2.
2. Choosing a domain that you intend to use as nameserver:
Now, as your cPanel is ready, you need nameservers. In order to have nameservers, you
have to create private nameservers.
The private nameservers will be ns1.domain.tld and ns2.domain.tld . "domain.com" means
one of the domains you intend to host on the VPS. The nameservers must alwasys belong
to a domain that is hosted on the VPS.
a) In WHM, go to Account Functions => Create a new account , and create an account for
the domain on wich you want to build the private nameservers.
b) After the account is created go to DNS Functions => Edit DNS zone, and make sure
that the DNS zone exists.
3. Creating the private nameservers.
a) From step 2 point b), in WHM => DNS Functions => Edit DNS zone, , you choose the
domain you've created at step 2 point a) . Then at the first two "NS" records, you
replace:
ns1.cp.solarvps.com
ns2.cp.solarvps.com
with
ns1.domain.tld
ns2.domain.tld
*where domain.tld is the domain you've created at point 2a)
b) You create two new A records:
ns1 (in the left box) and you enter the FIRST IP of your VPS (in the right box)
ns2 (in the left box) and you enter the SECOND IP of your VPS (in the right box)
c) Save the changes.
4. Go to WHM => Nameserver IP's, and you will see the two nameservers and thier IP's:
ns1.domain.tld - FIRST IP
ns2.domain.tld - SECOND IP
*where domain.tld is the domain you've created at point 2a)
4. Your private nameservers have been created. The final step is to register them at
your domain registrar/vendor page (the page where you've bought the domain).
Here is our tutorial for this:

5. Verify the integrity of your DNS servers, at the following website:
http://www.intodns.com
enter domain.tld (*where domain.tld is the domain you've created at point 2a) and hit
ENTER.
6. You should now be having private nameservers
